Watch Video Rewind

1-fathers-day

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Watch Video Rewind, where we post watch related videos that peak our interest. This week, with Father’s Day just two weeks away, I thought I would post some video reviews/stories about a few watches I would love to receive for Father’s Day. Considering the situation, these will all be affordable to aspirational (at least for me), with nothing that gets too far out there.

I am a diver, and I like affordable divers that are readable and wearable.  Halios is a small brand out of Canada, and they have a pretty good following. The Delphin in PVD is attractive and comes in well under $1,000. In addition to the video, Worn & Wound also has a write up of the watch.

Have you heard about this new-fangled Swiss automatic movement built by Swatch for their very affordable Sistem51?  We may have mentioned the watch from time to time, but if you have not seen one in action, check out the video. I don’t own one, but I would certainly not be averse to wearing one.

Another brand that we love here at WWR is Magrette, and the Dual Time is an interesting way to get a GMT-like watch without the extra hand. We have covered it, as has Watch Report, the folks who made the video. One nice thing about the internal bezel vs a GMT is that you can also use it for timing things like parking meters or the BBQ, which is really what most timing bezels are going to be used for anyway.

The Weiss Standard Issue has long been on my gift wish list, and there it will stay until someone gets the hint. I reviewed the watch two years ago, and think it still holds up as a great modern casual/dress watch, and I like the connection you get with a manual wound watch.

Finally, I will wrap up this week’s Watch Video Rewind with an aspirational watch, the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch. A few years ago I went to an ABTW-sponsored Omega event in LA and the highlight of the night (at least for me) was when the shop owner pulled out a complete collection of the Speedmasters commemorating all the Gemini and Apollo Missions. TheWatches.TV put together a short segment about the history of the watch and how it came to be the Moonwatch.

Omega Speedmaster Missions Collection. Phenomenal collection. #wristwatchreview #womw #omega

That’s it for this week’s edition of Watch Video Rewind.  If you stumble across any interesting watch (or time) related videos out there, or if you make your own Watch Story, drop us a line. If we end up using in the watch video rewind from your suggestion, we’ll be sure to tip our hats (electronically, if not literally) in your general direction.
