Welcome back to our weekly installment, where we have a quick look at some interesting watches and articles that have popped up over the last week, as well as taking a second look at what some of our more popular articles this week were. Today, we’ve got a couple of rather impressive mechanical watches on tap, as well as a crazy set of Amazon reviews. After those, we’ll highlight (as usual) some of our more popular posts from the last week. Read on to see what we’ve got in store for you.
And now, let’s come back to our own pages.

Urwerk-UR-105M-11

First up, Urwerk’s latest, the UR-105M, has hit, and all variety of sites have covered it.  Of course, I’m partial to aBlogtoWatch, so we’re giving the hat tip to Ariel’s writeup.  Why pay attention to this one?  Well, it grabbed my eye simply by it’s “friendly” name – the Dark Knight (yes, Batman, it’s a thing for me).  Past that, though, these are just plain awesome bits of machinery.  Pretty much overkill for oh, all of us, in daily situations, but it’s amazing how much can be jammed into a case.  Check out the writeup right here.

Gronefeld-Parallax-1912-dial-2

Next up, over at Quill & Pad, they dove into the latest from Grönefeld, the Parallax Tourbillon.  I picked this particular coverage because Josh Munchow goes into great detail about some science history about parallaxes, which is some fun background to have when you get into why Grönefeld used that particular bit of nomenclature to name their latest creation.  I won’t spoil it for you here – suffice to say, this is one of the most (if not the most) accurate tourbillon watches you might be able to get your hands on.  Check it out over here (and many thanks to the crew over at r/watches for bringing this one up).

zenith-defy

Over at Amazon, you’re probably aware that we sometimes can find some pretty hilarious reviews of products.  This time, the comedy lens got turned on a watch, the Zenith Defy Xtreme Tourbillon Titanium Chronograph.  What’s interesting to me here is that the reviews rightly get to the heart of the matter of what many would consider to be the absurdity of buying a watch that’s almost $90k.  I’ll reserve my own commentary – just go ahead and check out the  reviews right here and have yourself a chuckle.

And now, own to our own pages.  As of late, it really seems like you’re clicking with the subjects (and writing) our newest staff member, Matt, is picking up.  This week, he brought us word of Victorinox (you know, the Swiss Army knife company) watch that’s intended to head for the water (and hence the Navy play-on-words).  As he points out in the article, this is a serious dive watch that we’ve really not seen from the brand before, and has some interesting details to it.  Check out the writeup over here.

Gavox-Legacy-15

Last, but certainly not least, we’re wrapping up our April giveaway.  This month’s contest was a little bit different, with the first part soliciting ideas for where the Gavox watch would have it’s photo taken.  Those submissions are in, and we (along with Gavox) have picked the top three entries.  Over in this post, you can help decide who the ultimate winner will be by commenting with your choice.

With that, we’ll wrap things up. As always, if there’s something you think we should be covering, feel free to drop us a line. If you bring something up that we end up writing about, we’ll be sure to tip our hats (electronically, if not literally) in your general direction.
