Welcome back to our weekly installment, where we have a quick look at some interesting watches and articles that have popped up over the last week, as well as taking a second look at what some of our more popular articles this week were.  Today we’ve got a look at how computer tools are aiding watch design, a review of a rather nice-looking Hamilton, and then a look at a few of our most popular articles of the week.

Franck-Muller-Giga-Gong-Tourbillon

First off, I want to bring your attention to this post over at aBlogtoWatch (yes, I know, I wrote it, but this is something really cool I think everyone should see).  In short, it’s a video that gives a look into how a common engineering program is utilized in the design of watches – the specific example being a Frank Muller Giga Tourbillon.  Not only is this a great peek into the process, it also makes you stop and think about how much more difficult this stuff was in the days before CAD.

Next up, the folks over at Worn & Wound have a review of a rather sharp-looking Hamilton, the new Khaki Navy Pilot automatic.  This is a great vintage military inspired piece, and it’s got a rather unique case configuration that I’ve not seen on a Hamilton model before.  Combined with wire lugs, this is a definitely a fresh look from the brand, and I’m sure one that will gain quite a few admirers.  Oh, and if you’d like a chance to win this beauty?  Head on over here.

Void-V03M-Automatic-08

Turning back to our own pages, one of the most popular posts was from a brand we’ve not written about previously – Void.  They just introduced their first automatic model (the V03M), and it’s coming in at a surprisingly small diameter, given current trends.  Curious what the size is?  Well, click on through to the article and have a gander.

Lew-Huey-Acionna-Prototype-006Last, but certainly not least, the trend of Lew & Huey proving to be popular on these pages held up.  We were able to spend some quality time with a prototype of their new Acionna, and came away impressed with what it has to offer.  While the Kickstarter round has finished up on this particular model, you can certainly order one through their website.  For a deeper dive into the watch (and a special coupon code for our readers), check out the article.

And that’ll wrap things up for this week.  As always, if there’s something you think we’ve overlooked, feel free to drop me a message and let me know about what you’ve run across.  If I end up running it, I’ll be sure to credit you!
