Welcome back to our weekly installment, Watching the Web, where we have a quick look at some interesting watches and articles that have popped up over the last week, as well as taking a second look at what some of our more popular articles this week were. Today, we’ve got a field watch buying guide, and a great editorial on timepieces, fathers, and responsibility.  After those, we’ll highlight (as usual) some of our more popular posts from the last week. Read on to see what we’ve got in store for you.

First up, we’ve got that Field Watch buying guide I mentioned.  The crew over at Gear Patrol are no strangers to strong roundups, and this one is no exception.  Whatever your outdoor summer activities might be, there’s probably a watch to fit those efforts.  As they write in their article, the Field Watch is a bit more of an amorphous definition.  That said, they’ve pulled together five sharp examples fit for a variety of budgets.

Next up, we’ve got a very personal editorial from Ariel Adams over at aBlogtoWatch.  I’ve gotten to know Ariel better over the last year or so, and the whole ABTW/WWR family was saddened with the loss of his father earlier in the year.  Through the simple memory of the watch Ariel remembers his father wearing, he crafts a great writeup on how watches can spur responsibility, and the impact a dad can have in a child’s life.  It’s a particularly poignant piece with Father’s Day just having been celebrated, but it’s also a good read even if you’re not familiar with the man being discussed.

Now, let’s head back to our own pages.  First up, we’ve got one of the latest entries from Raven, their new Deep Tech Diver.  We’ve been fans of what Raven has been creating, giving more of a vintage / homage feel than you might otherwise get from their sister brand Benarus.  While the pieces are limited in quantity, you’ve got a few different options and colors to choose from.  We’re looking into getting one in for a hands-on review…

Shinola-Runwell-Chronograph-25

Next up is a watch we did have in for review – the Shinola Runwell Contrast Chrono.  Readers of our site here will know I have an affinity for the Detroit-based brand, and this latest watch was definitely an intriguing option with its less-common color palette of grey.  While I’m not much of a chrono guy, I found a lot to like with the piece.  It’s no surprise that the Runwell is a popular collection, and I have a feeling this one will follow the same path.

Project-Watches-Nadir-006

Last, but certainly not least, don’t forget to enter in our latest giveaway.  Head on over here and get your entries in.

With that, we’ll wrap things up. As always, if there’s something you think we should be covering, feel free to drop us a line. If you bring something up that we end up writing about, we’ll be sure to tip our hats (electronically, if not literally) in your general direction.
