Welcome back to our weekly installment, where we have a quick look at some interesting watches and articles that have popped up over the last week, as well as taking a second look at what some of our more popular articles this week were.  Read on for coverage on a tour of the Cartier Tank factory, ten things about Rolex you should know, a new Kickstarter project from a familiar company, and one of the latest dive watches I’ve reviewed from an independent brand.

Cartier-Tank

When I first started getting interested in watches, the tank-style watch was one of the designs I was first attracted to.  There’s just something very alluring about the presence you can get from a well-proportioned rectangular case.  Over at AContinuousLean, they’re actually taking you behind the doors of the company that started it all with tank cases – Cartier.

Rolex-Watch-Manufacture-9

Continuing on with the theme of watch factory tours, we’re brought to aBlogtoWatch and Rolex.  Recently, Ariel Adams (along with three other bloggers) were on a very exclusive (and rare) tour of Rolex’s facilities in Switzerland.  Out of that came quite a few revelations; Ariel’s summed them up in this article regarding 10 things you need to know about Rolex.

 lew-huey-acciona

Turning the focus back to our own pages, you really seemed to resonate with the latest offering from Lew & Huey, the Miyota-9015 driven Acciona.  It’s an interesting looking piece, and Matt really dug the internal bezel (I can vouch for them being an interesting design mix up).  Unfortunately, the project is now closed (though fully funded), so we should see these in the wild in the near future.  source

Tempest-Viking (19)

Last, but certainly not least, we’ve got our review of the Tempest Viking.  This has been an interesting brand to follow, through their trials and tribulations.  Their Viking is a beefy diver with some great style, including the high-dome sapphire crystal and some surprise finishing on the bracelet clasp.  If you’re searching for a sub-$1000 diver with style that’s different from the competition, this is a solid contender.

And that wraps things up for this edition, the last one of November.  We’ll see you again next week, same bat-time, same bat-channel.  And as always, if you come across something interesting in the world of watch news, feel free to pick up the red phone and let me know about it (aka, send me an email).
