It is the weekend once again, so it is time for our weekly feature, Watching the Web, where take a spin about the World Wide Web to look at some interesting watches or watch related news that we have found this week. We also get a chance to highlight a few of our own articles that have been popular over the previous week (or so). For this week’s roundup, we have a new watch from Resco, as well as an editorial about luxury watch advertising. From our own pages, we have two older reviews that managed to spark a lot of interest.
So, first up, we have this writeup on the Resco Hooper. Now, Resco is a brand that I had a lot of focus on for some time, and then they sort of fell off of my radar. With this latest release, they are paying homage to a watch that had some popularity due to it being on the wrist of “Jaws” actor Richard Dreyfuss (aka Hooper). Check out what Worn & Wound had to say about it right here.
Next up, over at aBlogtoWatch, they tackle the topic of what in the world is going on with advertising around luxury watches. Yes, that is a segment that we do not cover in great detail here on WWR, but it still an interesting read, and is certainly the way that most of the public ends up seeing watches – splashed across the pages of their favorite magazine. Turning back to our own pages, one of the most popular posts of the week was our review of the Shinola Runwell Contrast Chrono. The review may be from about five months ago, but it still an attractive watch – and the grey coloration used for it is definitely a rarity in terms of what I have reviewed over the last few years. Oh, and Shinola lovers, do not fear – we do have a review of a newer model currently in the works.
Next up, we have another (somewhat) older review, this time on the CCCP Shchuka. While there were some design details on this one that really did not click well for me, there are some things to like. And, if you are a collector of vintage Russian (and inspired) watches, the Shchuka may be worth a gander.
And finally, we have our monthly giveaway. This time around, we have a pair of watches from Bertucci, with one watch going to each of two winners.
