We’re smack dab in the middle of Watches and Wonders, a fancy trade show where many of the biggest watch brands (basically everyone except Swatch Group, including Omega) are debuting novelties. It’s a big deal, and we’re all pretty excited. One of these brands that we’re big fans of here at WristWatchReview: Grand Seiko. So, let’s take a quick look at what they’ve announced.

Several new pieces have been announced, but most interesting to me is the Spring Drive Diver SLGA015, which is more or less a full production version of 2020’s SLGA001. Just about the only criticism I have, at least based on what I’ve seen so far, is the “5 Days” on the dial. I feel like if you get rid of that, this is basically perfect. I love the subtle wave effect on the dial.

Says Grand Seiko:

“The oceans that surround the Japanese archipelago are criss-crossed by water currents of great power. One such is the Kuroshio Current, also known as the Black Stream. It flows northwards past Japan towards the North Pacific and is one of the largest ocean streams in the world. The dynamic and sometimes violent tides caused by the Black Stream inspire the deep black color and richly textured surface of the dial of this new 200m diver’s watch.”

Grand Seiko’s website has a bit more information on what they’ve announced so far.
