December 2023 witnessed the launch of the Expedition Enigmath by BOLDR Supply Co., a new entrant in their Expedition series. This model stands out for incorporating a slide rule bezel, a feature once prevalent before the digital era, designed for performing various mathematical functions. Tailored for adventurers, the watch comes in three colorways, each paired with a matching canvas strap, showcasing a blend of functionality and style. The company is now shipping the Enigmath in case you’re totes into having a wee slide rule on your wrist. It comes in blue, green, and black.

A Nod to the Past: The Slide Rule Bezel

The slide rule, a tool conceived in the 17th century by mathematician William Oughtred, has seen its application in various fields, including aviation and ground operations in the 20th century, where it was essential for calculating critical metrics such as speed, distance, and fuel consumption. The Expedition Enigmath’s slide rule bezel reimagines this historical tool, allowing wearers to perform such calculations with ease.

At the heart of the Expedition Enigmath lies the Miyota 9039 movement, known for its reliability and precision. Operating at 28,800 beats per hour (bph), it features self-winding mechanics and a hacking seconds function, complemented by a 42-hour power reserve.

The watch case is crafted from 316L stainless steel, chosen for its resilience in extreme conditions, offering high resistance to temperature variations and corrosion. It boasts a 41mm diameter, 200m water resistance, and a sleek design with a 47.5mm lug-to-lug distance, a 12.8mm thickness, and a 20mm lug width. The finishing touches include a sandblasted and polished surface and an AR-coated sapphire crystal, enhancing the dial’s readability.

Practical Elegance for the Outdoor Enthusiast

The Expedition Enigmath is not just a tool watch; it’s a testament to BOLDR Supply Co.’s commitment to serving the needs of outdoor adventurers who value precision, durability, and practicality. Launched in December 2023, the watch is available now with an introductory offer on its steel bracelet and priority shipping for early orders.
