It is not an every day occurrence, but more and more I am seeing established (albeit small) brands use crowd funding for the launch of a new product. Tactico is the latest to jump on this trend. Patrick looked at the second offering from this boutique Spanish watch maker back in 2012, and now there is a campaign on Kickstarter to get a variation on their third watch out to a larger audience. The Tactico Geomaster GMT watch is an automatic pilots watch with an ETA movement being produced in limited numbers.

While we here at WWR like to primarily feature watches that fall into the affordable category, we do take the occasional foray into the world of higher-end, or luxury, watches when one catches our eye. It is interesting to see how brands that make up that higher end segment differentiate their products from the other end of the spectrum, which often takes the form of higher-end materials and different movements than we might expect to see; that is what we have here with the Meerson D15.

When it comes to the watches that we bring to your attention, we generally like to point out watches that are currently available – I.E., something you can actually buy today. With the moVas Bronze Officer, I am taking a bit of a risk. I caught wind of this watch when a special newsletter subscriber email went out, for which there was a special “insider” pre-order sale kicking in. Given that there are only 50 pieces of this model being made (more on that in a minute), there is a chance that, when the pre-order opens up to the general public, there may not be any pieces left. Even so, this is a pretty interesting watch in my book, so I thought it was worthwhile bringing it to your attention.

I almost entitled this article as an “Introducing” piece, but that would be a bit misleading, as the Mark Carson Ka La GMT has actually been available for some time – it’s just taken me awhile to get it bubbled up to where I had time to write about it. And, as long as I’m “fully disclosing” things, I’ll be up front and point out that the man behind Individual Design, Mark Carson, is also a team member over at aBlogtoWatch. That said, he did not even bring this one up with me to write about, it was just one that I ran across and was interested in. So, with that, let’s have a preview look at the Mark Carson Ka La GMT.

When it comes to new watch releases, there are a handful of features that always seem to grab my eye. First amongst those is a GMT complication, as it has quickly become my favorite one to have in a watch. Throw in some vintage styling (especially with a white or off-white dial), and you can consider my interest to be fully piqued. Needless to say, when I saw the photos of the Steinhart Ocean One Vintage Dual Time, I knew it was a watch I would be writing about.

There are a number of watch complications out there, and one that Patrick and I both really like is the GMT. With the Mercer Watch Company Wayfarer GMT, this new company is bringing this complication to market in their sophomore watchmaking effort. I wrote about the Brigadier automatic back in March, and it looks like that watch is getting in the hands of the backers, with a positive response. With that project in its final stages, Mercer is back on Kickstarter looking for funding for project #2.

We first brought you word of the new Filson (by Shinola) watches in February. While they are, at their heart, Shinola watches, they have a different look and feel to them that switching to the Filson name allows (sort of how auto manufacturers go for different styles on the same basic platform across brands). My preferences being what they are, I found myself drawn to the GMT models being released, along with their tincloth straps. To the best of my knowledge, we are the first site able to bring you a hands-on review of the Filson Journeyman GMT
