Rado Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Chronograph: ready to time your summer

It was just two years ago when we brought you word of the first Rado Captain Cook Chronograph (you can see that here). Well, when summertime hits, they like to get some fresh colors on their designs (as we saw here). This time, it’s that chronograph getting the treatment, with two new colorways for the Rado Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Chronograph.

What’s new with the Rado Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Chronograph?

First, of course, are the colors. You’ve got a black-and-gold combination, as well as a green dial set into a silvertone case and bracelet. Now, let’s talk about the materials here, because these are new, as compared to a few years ago. The case of these designs is a ceramic monobloc (we had a stainless steel two years ago). Tucked into the lugs of those case, we have titanium showing up. The brand has done ceramic bracelets before, but we think the titanium is a nod to the fact that a chronograph is a sportier tool watch, and meant to be put through the paces.

What’s remained the same?

If you compared the Rado Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Chronograph to what came before it, you would notice a lot of similarities. The overall design and sizing is consistent, and you’ve even got the same movement tucked inside, which means you’ve got the same layout on the dial. That the same movement is in use gives us confidence in the design, as it’s had two additional years of real-world testing to prove it out.

If you want the version with the green dial version of the Rado Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Chronograph, you’re looking at $6,200. On the other hand, if you want the sheen of rose gold set against black, that one comes in just a touch higher at $6,250.
