Melbourne Watch Company was kind enough to send over 2 copies of their Finders watch for me to wear for a while, one a black dial on a black strap, and the other a ‘white’ dial on a brown strap. Patrick wrote up the watch when it was still in the project phase on Indiegogo, so now it was my turn to get an impression of the watch. And, to cut to the chase, I liked it.
Just quick note here – I saw today over on Touch of Modern that they’ve got a…
OK, in the words of Douglas Adams, Don’t Panic. You still have a few days to get the dad(s) in your life a gift, thanks to WWW and fast shipping. But what do you get, and is it going to break the bank? Mmmm, maybe… Here are a few ideas for last minute Father’s Day gifts based on things we have reviewed, or that I own or covet. I will try not to go too deep down my fantasy wish list.
Alright, it’s Sunday, and that means one of two things – time to drop some knowledge via Historical Horology, or take a gander at some moving pictures. Though, I’m guessing you’ve figured out that we’re going to go the video route today. If you were hoping for some learning, though, we’ve got you covered. The first video we’ve got…
Welcome back to our weekly installment, where we have a quick look at some interesting watches and articles that have popped up over the last week, as well as taking a second look at what some of our more popular articles this week were. Romaine Jerome is one of those far out there watch brands that somehow keeps creating crazy watches that I like. I can’t pinpoint exactly what I like about them, since some of the designs are pretty silly, but I like them none the less. Just launched is the Steampunk Auto Colours variations, a take on the previous steampunk watch done up in, you guessed it, bright colors.
When it comes to watches that you strap on before heading off into the great outdoors, you’ve got no shortage of choice. Then again, when there are a class of watches known as field watches, well, that seems like an appropriately named device. While most brands might have one or two models in their lineup that could be called a field watch, Bertucci actually opts to keep their whole lineup conforming to that mold. As you’ll see in our review, however, they do manage to mix things up a bit within that singular design idea.
Touch of Modern, a web site that I like to browse and where we point readers from time to time is running a limited time sale of Swiss dive watches from Squale Watches. The watches range from the basic diver, the Atmos, to a vintage Tiger from the 70s/80s that has been rebuilt housing an ETA 2892 movement, new hands, new gaskets, and a new rubber strap.
Steinhart is a brand that gets a lot of mention when one is looking for a value brand in Swiss watches. Most of their offerings are well made and attractive, and come at price points that are reachable for the average beginning collector, or someone looking to step up from a quartz watch. A new watch from the firm, the Marine Chronograh, fits nicely in that mold.
