Chronographs are a funny thing, for me. On one hand, I do understand and appreciate the overall look of a chronograph, be it a bi- or tri-compax layout. For all practical purposes, however, I simply do not have a use the complication offers. As such, I generally tend to steer away from chronographs, especially as they are generally housed in larger cases. That all said, I may have found an exception to my rule with a watch being introduced at Basel later this month – the Junghans Meister Chronoscope.

Christopher Ward has made a lot of watches with ties to motor sports, and to legendary cars. Their latest release deepens this connection, with 4 watches commemorating the tradition of Grand Prix racing in Europe. The Christopher Ward C70 GP Chronometer is a COSC certified chronograph offered in four flavors, honoring British, French, Belgian and Italian race tracks.

Over the years, we here at WWR have developed relationships with quite a number of different brands, ranging from the newest indie’s to some of the bigger, more established names in the industry. One of the newer relationships we’ve developed is with Projects Watches. Along with the obvious affordability the brand offers, they have a unique sense of design, often pushed along by bringing in designers who are not traditional watch designers, resulting in some unique ideas. The latest of these is the Projects Watches “On the Right Track”.

While we very much focus on watches at the affordable end of the spectrum here at WWR, we do occasionally take forays into the realm of the luxury watch, especially if the watch in question offers something rather unique. One of the brands that has tripped that threshold more than a few times has been Arnold & Son, and their latest certainly fits the bill as well. So, without further ado, let’s have a look at what the Arnold and Son Golden Wheel has to offer.

The Melbourne Watch Company has graced our pages multiple times, starting with a preview and then hands on review of the Flinders, then the Hawthorne, and the Portsea, and finally the Parkville. Now this Australian watch company is back again on Kickstarter, with their take on the modern pilot’s watch, the Melbourne Watch Company Avalon.

Sometimes we look for the next cool watch and overlook a well made, but not overly exciting watch. I am not going to say I overlooked the Brigadier, but it did take me a little while to get to writing about it. And it is a watch worth writing about on its own, since the Mercer Watch Company Brigadier on Kickstarter is a pretty three hander that looks like it is well designed and made, even if it is not super exciting.

If there is one complication (or class of complication) that I have become an ardent fan of, it is the world timer. While this often takes the form of a secondary hand to track another time zone, this can also take the shape of a cities disc that rotates around (as with this Baume & Mercier Capeland), or even a second time register. When we have a secondary time register, this is often synchronized to the main time display, as on this Techne. With the Ritmo Mundo Corinthian World Time, that second register can actually be independently set.
