Vulcain is famous for its clever alarm watches but is also synonymous with diving. Their latest creation, the Skindiver Black, is aimed at folks who want a classic look without a modern price.

The Black has a ceramic bezel, is water fast to 20ATM, and has a 38mm steel case. It runs a standard ETA 2824 and features tropical-style hands and face.

The be abundantly clear this is about as simple as a diver can be. That said, it’s a Swiss-made piece, comes from a lovely old brand, and it’s a nice reunion with a storied and beloved design.

The price is a bit high – $1,607.78 – but I’m not going to fault them for trying to do something different in the diver space. It’s a lovely piece from a great brand. I’m looking forward to seeing what the folks at Vulcain do next.
