While we tend to give collaborations between watch brands and retailers an indifferent shoulder shrug, the Longines Spirit Zulu Time x Wempe caught my attention, for purely selfish reasons.

Those reasons? Well, I’m a fan of GMT movemements, and my favorite color is blue. So, put those together in a classic Longines design (this is one that goes all the way back to 1925). The movement in question is the Longines L844.4 which is a traveller’s GMT. It also offers up other cool features like a silicon balance spring and Nivashock shock-resistance system.

Here’s what the the two companies have to say about this new release:

This striking GMT watch was inspired by a model from 1925, the same year Longines and Wempe began their partnership, paying the perfect homage to the two brands’ long-standing relationship. The new precision watch combines cutting-edge technology with an aesthetically pleasing design. The 42-millimeter stainless-steel case boasts a royal blue bidirectional ceramic bezel and a deep black sunburst dial with a royal blue GMT hand. The rhodium-plated applied numerals and hands are easy to read even at night thanks to the Super-Luminova® coating.

It’s a striking watch, and one that will certainly keep you on time as you jaunt around the world. Of course, the standard Spirit Zulu Time collection is still out there (you can see that here). However, if you want one of the 300 pieces with the royal blue ceramic bezel, there’s only one place to get it. The new collaboration is available for $3,150 directly from wempe.com
