Yes, your Omega Speedmaster is waterproof. You can swim and shower in it but you can’t dive in it. You can dip it into a bath, wash dishes, and even get caught in a downpour. That said, there are a number of considerations before you go splashing around.

Omega Speedmaster Waterproof?

Most Speedmaster watches are designed to be water-resistant to a depth of 50 meters (165 feet). This level of water resistance allows for everyday wear, including exposure to water splashes, rain, and hand-washing.

If you require a watch with higher water resistance for activities like swimming or diving, Omega offers other collections, such as the Seamaster series, which are specifically designed for water sports and feature greater water resistance capabilities.

One consideration for most Speedmasters is the condition of the seals for the crown and buttons. Because the Speedmaster doesn’t have a screw down crown, water could easily pass through a broken or worn seal and into the watch.

Older Speedmasters, even ones as new as the early 2000s, are probably not waterproof anymore and classic pieces are definitely not waterproof. A new, fresh Speedmaster or one recently serviced should be waterproof and, if not, should be sent back for repair.
