Partnerships seem to be all the rage in the last year or two. By pairing up with another popular brand, it’s a way to inject some fresh excitement into an existing watch design. The latest to capitalize on this is the Maui & Sons X Fossil release of two different watches.
Maui & Sons started in 1980 as a chocolate chip cookie company, and not too long after pivoted into the surfwear company that we know today. Those cookies live on in the brand’s logo, and for this collaboration, the bright 80’s colors feature prominently on the watches.
Fittingly for watches intended for the surf lover, both models are solar powered. The first one, the FB-01, also features a case and strap made from the #tide recycled ocean plastic. This is the watch for those who have always been a fan of Maui & Sons, and want to have that logo out there proudly. If you want to be a bit more subtle about it, then the Ana-Digi version is the route to go. This one has the colors, but relies on the logo and shark symbol on the strap. While the strap of this one is recycled PET, the case is made from castor oil.
Along with these watches, there’s also a new shirt and hat that have been introduces. While the watches come in at $150 (for the FB-01) and $190 (the ana-digi), the hat and shirt are bit less expensive – $30 and $35, respectively. Want to get your retro surf on?
