Last week, you may have saw the news of Zodiac doing a collaboration with RedBar. If you missed out on that release, or you’re just not a fan of the red dot on the dial (and caseback), then you’re not out of luck. You can actually now get a non-RedBar version of the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Pro-Diver on June 17th.

The dial

For us, the dial is the star of the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Pro-Diver show. In the daylight, it’s a pale mint green, which certainly feels like an older dive watch. Maybe not from the 60s, but definitely late 70s or early 80s. Where it gets really fun is in the dark (or below the waves). The dial switches to a blue glow, while the white indices and handset glow green (as well as the bezel fill). This combination certainly keeps things crisp and legible, and you know that dial will glow like crazy after being out in the sun.

The movement

Inside the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Pro-Diver is a brand-new movement as well: the STP 1-21. At it’s core, this is an evolution of the STP 1-11. It’s automatic, it’s a three-hander, and it also offers a date complication. In terms of timing your dive (or your boiled eggs, we won’t judge), you should have no fear of being off. The movement carries COSC certification, meaning it’ll maintain accuracy.

The aesthetics

As should be no surprise, the Pro-Diver is recognizable as being part of the Super Sea Wolf family. For us, that is most prevalent in the tombstone hands, though this is the first time we recall seeing them done in a black finish. The indices also carry the imprint. Overall, the look of the bezel and case is a bit more rounded, and then you’ve got the 7-link bracelet (rather than 5) giving it a wider stance.

Wrapping things up

If, for whatever reason, you felt prior Zodiac Super Sea Wolf offerings (like this one) just weren’t up to your rigorous dive needs, then this one should certainly do the trick. Or, if you’re a desk diver like me, if you’ve not experienced the fun of a fully-lumed dial, this is a colorful way to go. It can be yours as of June 17th, 2024 for $2,295 over at zodiacwatches.com
