Hello and welcome to our regular Saturday feature, Watching the Web, where we shine a light on interesting watch related articles across the web, and recap a few of our more popular reviews over the past week or so. This week, WatchTime looks at Nomos Watches, Monochrome highlights the Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days Ceramica, and Quill & Pad shows off the Kees Engelbarts Tourbillon Organic Skeleton. From our pages, we have the Void V01MKII, the The Detroit Company 1701 Ponchartrain and L’Horloge models, and a blast from the past with Patrick’s look at the Techne Harrier series of watches.

Ever since I was first exposed to Techné (back in 2012) I have been a fan of what the brand is offering – a variety of no-nonsense models with a good mix of styling and affordability. The first watch I spent time with was the SparrowHawk II, and I rather liked the action of the mecha-quartz chronograph. It’s why I chose to write about it again when it was first reintroduced. Well, 38 months have passed since the watch was originally introduced, and the brand decided it was time to introduce a refreshed Techné SparrowHawk II.

Techne is a brand that we have not focused on much recently, but both Patrick and I have an appreciation for what the brand is doing. They create attractive and affordable aviation inspired watches, with many of the watches tied to modern fighter planes. Though the Techne Dual Time is not tied to a specific plane this time around, it is pilot oriented with a day/date and a single hand GMT complication.

In general, I tend to see new brands go the crowdfunding route, or perhaps new-ish brands returning to the crowdfunding scene for a second or third model. The Techne SparrowHawk II Eco, however, is the second recent project I have seen that was launched by an established brand. Techne has been covered on these pages previously, and I own a Harrier model, so they are not unknown to us. The produce quality wristwatches with a military/aviation theme, and the styling of this project is not a departure for the brand.
