We’ve long been fans of the watches Gavox produce, and we’ve gone hands on with a great number of them over the years. Somehow, Michael Happé has somehow read my mind, and produced a design that is aimed squarely at my interests. Meet the Gavox Longitude.

When the photos came across for the Gavox Longitude, what struck me first was the dial. The colors are great (I’m partial to the sapphire one), but what really stands out is the topographical or wave texture that the dial has. It adds shadow that puts a lot of visual interest on the dial without making the watch any less legible. Oh, and take note – the date window is color matched as well!

The next great thing about the Gavox Longitude is case size – 39mm. This should make for a very comfortable wear, particularly with the stock bracelet – with a lovely mix of angles and polished surfaces – tucked into the 20mm lugs.

The other great thing to note about the Gavox Longitude is the movement inside – the Miyota 9075. While the specs call this a “true” GMT, what we’ve taken to calling it (in the industry) is a Traveller GMT. What this means is, when you land somewhere, you set the local hour hand independently, leaving the GMT hand untouched. This is a boon for the traveller, whereas a “caller” GMT (where you set the GMT hand independently) is more for when you’re staying in one place, and having to call to a different time zone frequently.

All in all, the Gavox Longitude looks awesome, and we’re glad to see this one coming to fruition (and yes, we’re working to go hands-on with a prototype once they’re available). While delivery is anticipated for Spring 2023, the pre-order is going on now (until the end of the year). Pre-order for $910 – $964 (a 32% discount) directly from gavox.com
