To be clear, the G-Shock G-Lide lineup is not new. It’s been around for a bit now, giving information on moonphases and tides that surfers want to know, so they can head out at the right time. What’s new this time around – aside from the case colors available – is that this is a new, more-compact version.

The original G-Shock G-Lide came in at a case size of 46.7 × 43.2 × 12.7 mm, while this new version is 45.7 × 40.5 × 11.9 mm. Not a radically drastic shrink, but still one that should make the watch a better fit for smaller wrists. For some reason, G-Shock has this listed as a women’s model, but that’s artificially limiting. We think it’s a good fit for anyone who just wants a more compact – but still very capable – watch on their wrist, whatever their reason may be.

They’ve also made the bezel and band from an eco-friendly plastic that we’ve seen showing up more within the G-Shock lineup. The colors they’ve used here are pretty sharp, giving a pop of color without needing to overburden your eyes, and they’ve got a new flash alert (that we’ve not seen before) that flashes the LED when alerts go off. If you want to pick one up, they’re going for $99 in blue, orange, or white (the charcoal version is not available in the States). casio.com
