Hanhart makes handsome, classical chronos that cost a just under $1,500. Their latest creations are the PIONEER Mk1 and Mk II in reverse panda colorations. The watches themselves are very evocative of the IWC Big Crown Pilot watch but feature Hanhart’s signature red pusher control. The watch itself is an ETA chrono and features cathedral hands and lumed numerals.

The Mk II costs about $2,000 while the Mk I costs $2,090.00. Why the red pusher?

The legend of the red pusher, which is supposed to prevent pilots from inadvertently resetting the stopwatch, tells of a pilot’s wife who marked her sweetheart’s pusher red with nail polish so that he would always think of her and return home safely.
