We like the watches that Marvin Menke produces over at Hemel. It looks like he’s got some fun stuff in the works, and just recently, he released a completely new sub-brand along with the first design. Let’s see what the Eyelandt Resolute has in store for you.

Why a sub-brand?

Well, think about it this way – we all know that, say, Honda and Acura are the same company, right? But they have totally different target audiences, and the designs, features, and materials reflect that. It’s much the same way with a watch company. Put things under a new sub-brand, and you can explore a different design language without impacting what people have come to expect from the main line.

What the Eyelandt Resolute is

You can tell by looking at the Eyelandt Resolute that it was inspired by field watch designs. You’ve got the 24-hour scale available, a crisp white-on-black palette, and just the data points you need. By that, we mean hours, minutes, and seconds. No date, no other complications. You’ll also notice that there are a lot of brushed surfaces, which keeps glare down in the field.

In a nod to the fact that most of us will be wearing the Eyelandt Resolute at, say, the office, there are plenty of polished surfaces as well. You’ve got that running down the center links of the bracelet (and that intriguing clasp), as well as on the bezel around the sapphire crystal.

To keep the materials interesting, the Eyelandt Resolute also has bronze tone on the crown and the heavily engraved caseback. By and large, though, this is a black-dialed steel watch, which is about as close to a chameleon as you can come. It’ll work across a variety of use cases, and those 20mm lugs should be ready for whatever strap you might want to swap in when the bracelet needs a break.

Wrapping things up

Frankly, there is a lot to like with the Eyelandt Resolute. That you’re getting an automatic watch on a steel bracelet for $299? That’s everything that we loved about microbrands: solid designs at great prices. They are first-come, first-serve, though. So, if you want one, head on over to hemelwatches.com
