We’ve made no secret of the fact that we’ve been fans of what Timex has been doing, particularly with the vintage-y designs that house automatic movements. One of the latest to grab our attention is the just-released Timex Marlin Jet Automatic.

Something about the design of this feels retro-futuristic to us, primarily due to the elongated wedge set on a circle for the seconds hand. We also rather like how that hand design is repeated in the 24-hour subdial. And even the echoes of that look show up in the main handset, which are the repeated on teh hour indices (albeit with a narrower strip), just making for a cohesive look.

When viewed in profile (as the image up top shows), that domed crystal really reinforces the old-school look, and it’s interesting how the Marlin name shows up in there (we have a feeling that might be a bit divisive). Past all that, we like the crown used here, as it reminds us of a fan belt pulley.

If you’re looking to pick one up, the Timex Marlin Jet Automatic is available now for $289 directly from timex.com
