Virata watches, created by an engineer named Patrick in Canton, Ohio, are styled after the race cars he loves. Designed to look as aerodynamic as a Formula 1 bruiser or a modern muscle car, Patrick is hoping his automatic pieces strike a chord for the modern watch lover.

The pieces themselves have complex cases and a solid Miyoa 9015 automatic movement. He’s launching on May 1 of this year and we’ll have a review unit on the site soon. I’m most fascinated by Patrick’s tale of watch-loving turned watchmaking. He decided to create his own brand after a few years of fanatic collecting and it’s a bold and clever take on the traditional three-hander. More to come.
