It is Sunday, so that means it is time for the Watch Video Rewind. In this (mostly) weekly feature, we bring to light interesting watch videos we have run across, and share them with you. This week, it will be all about (what else) the watches of Baselworld 2016.
Another weekend, and that means it’s time for another edition of Watching the Web. This week has been all about the news coming out of Baselworld, so for our wider survey, we’ll point you to some of the more interesting watches that caught our eye. From out own pages, we’ve got the Timex Waterbury, Halios Tropik, and the Prometheus Manta Ray.
As Hemingway once said, “Tell time drunk, wind your watch sober.” Thanks to Vintage Soda you can…
We rely on our watches to help us keep track of the passage of time. We may even use them to track some celestial happenings (moon phases, for instance). Sometimes, we may have a special watch that signifies a special day in our lives. What if you could combine all of those things into one package? Well, that is precisely what the MMT Ephemeris wants to do for you.
Romain-Jerome, everyone’s favorite wacky watch brand, has released the Moon Orbiter GMT, an oddly staid and nice-looking GMT piece with a lot less whimsy and a lot more cool than their previous models. The Moon Orbiter is the second in their lunar series and they created it in conjunction with La Joux-Perret.
As we spoke about in our initial hands-on review of the Filson Journeyman GMT, I view the Filson line of watches as a way for Shinola to sort of play around with their designs a bit, and take things in slightly different directions. While I would not go so far as to say that the Filson Dutch Harbor is breaking new ground, it is definitely a rather comely implementation of a dive watch.

Often when we think of a wristwatch, we come at the concept with some rather preconceived notions of how the watch should function and how it will indicate the time. This is fine, because as a tool, we need to know how to rely on our watches to be used as designed with a minimum of fuss. As with any tool, however, there are ways to massage the standard format to take things in more unique directions. For watches, we see that quite a bit in the digital side, but nowhere near as much in the analog side of things. The latest entry into the genre of “analog time twisters” is from Bonhoff, known simply as the Bonhoff IP-3.0.
Prometheus is a brand that I started working with pretty early on in my watch writing career here at WWR. While we may not have gone hands-on with their products for a little bit now, I have definitely kept tabs on what the company is producing. Their latest effort is going to be a redesign of the Prometheus Manta Ray.
It is Sunday, so that means it is time for the Watch Video Rewind, where we here at WWR highlight watch videos, or, in today’s installments, videos about time. Daylight Saving Time is upon us, so I have a few video dedicated to the topic.
