For a brand that just started up in 2022, Emera Swiss is really swinging for the fences in terms of design and technical execution. Many brands will take their time to work up to a tourbillon, but that’s right where the started with. The latest design to house their movement is the Emera Swiss Cyborg Black Shadow Warrior.

Now, yes, that name – the Emera Swiss Cyborg Black Shadow Warrior – is quite a mouthful. This is to ensure you don’t miss the inspirations for the design, we suppose. The Black Shadow warrior bit is because that textured dial was inspired by Samurai armor, and we’re definitely down with that look. Frankly, it looks like the chest piece of a super hero design we’d see on the screen, complete with the red accents.

The other inspiration they claim is the hypercar. This seems more evident on the caseback (think engine vents), and actually I suppose from the shape of the sapphire crystal on the case. The overall look first struck me as an old-school coffin, but with the car angle, I can see it being the clear views that many hypercars will have over their engine compartment.

Fortunately, for as busy as the dial is, and how unique the case shape is, the watch remains quite legible. The hands are done in 18k rose gold, which helps them stand out sharply against the dial. Additionally, with the traditional silver and brassy hues of the tourbillon cage, the mechanical whirlwind stands out sharply as well.

Now, for a new brand starting out, you might expect them to target an approachable pricepoint that pulls in new collectors. Well, when your first series catches the eye of the royal family of Monaco, you’re starting off in a different strata of watch collector. If you want to get one of the 20 examples they’re making of the Emera Swiss Cyborg Black Shadow Warrior, you’re looking at 395,000 CHF (~$458,000), with a portion of that going to support FightAIDSMonaco.
