It is hard to believe it is December already, but it is, so it is time to roll out our weekly edition of Watching the Web. Here, we highlight interesting articles we come across on other sites, as well as identify which of our own recent articles were the most popular over the last week or so. For this week’s article, I have an ultra thin tourbillon, a new brand from one of the men behind Magrette, and a Damascas steel watch from GoS. From our pages, the posts about new Magrette models, the Lew & Huey Phantom and the Crowdfunding Round Up topped the list.
Lew and Huey is a brand that I look to when I want to talk about the potential success of the crowd funded marketplace. The brand began on Kickstarter, with multiple watches launched on that platform, all well received. I put the brand in the category of “friend of the site,” and they are always happy to send us information on upcoming watches and then lend us review copies when they are available. I first wrote up the Phantom in April, and now I have a chance to take a two of the three options out for a test drive.
I hope everyone here in the US has enjoyed their Thanksgiving and there were no fired turkey disasters. Black Friday, Cyber Monday, doorbusters on Thanksgiving itself, this is the start of the discount season, at least here in the US, and Lew and Huey and getting on on the excitement. From now through December 1, the brand is giving a discount of $100 on any Acionna or the Spectre, $75 on any Cerberus, and $50 on the Orange/Blue and Red/Gray Orthos.
We just received word the other day from our pals over at Lew & Huey about a handful of updates, so we thought we’d share the news out here as well, as it is likely of interest to our readers. This roundup contains information on the Lew & Huey Phantom pre-order, a handful of replacement dials, and some new strap options.
How do you breathe new life into your watch? Well, one way is to swap out the strap. We have covered a lot of straps here on the site, but that only goes so far. What if you really want to change things up a bit? Or what if you like a watch, but just not the exact color scheme on offer? Lew & Huey have been somewhat of a crowd source darling company, launching their watches to date through campaigns on Kickstarter.
