If you recall, not all that long ago, we brought you word of a moonphase-equipped Christopher Ward model with an aventurine dial. Well, now they’ve gone and taken that dial material, and put it into my favorite of their lineup, the C63 Sealander. Meet the Christopher Ward C63 Celest.

What is it?

Simply put, take the classic three-hander C63, rip out the date wheel, and toss a starry aventurine dial in. Pair that up with the five-link bracelet, and well, you’ve got the Christopher Ward C63 Celest. In other words, it is one heck of a dressy sport watch, in our books. Powered by the Selitta SW 200-1, it’ll get the job done with aplomb.

What is CW saying about the design?

A 36mm watch means there’s less room on the dial to
play with. But by happy accident, it allows designers to
focus on what matters – telling the time as elegantly as
possible.

“The goal with the C63 Celest was to make a timepiece
that epitomised elegance and luxury – and brought the
wearer’s attention to the aventurine dial,” says Mike
France, Christopher Ward’s CEO. “That’s why we decided
not to have a minute track and why there’s no Trident
counter-balance at the end of the seconds hand.”

The luxury aesthetic is increased with the indexes and
handset – both of which have been polished (rather
than brushed). Further depth is provided with the
applied ‘twin-flags’ logo.
