You are undoubtedly familiar with the Weiss Standard Issue Field Watch, which has been around for quite some time (I reviewed a version back in 2015). What you may not be as familiar with (I know we weren’t) is that there’s also been a dive watch that’s joined the family. So, let’s meet the Weiss Standard Issue Dive Watch.

If you’re familiar with Weiss, you’ll notice that the dial of this diver doesn’t say “Los Angeles” like those earlier Field Watches did. This is because the company has moved to Tennessee, so gone is the LA reference. Of note, this diver is the first design to come out of the new shop in Nashville.

Just as with the Field Watch, the Weiss Standard Issue Dive Watch has just what you need on it, and no extra fluff. It’s a crisply legible dial, a 120-click dive bezel, and a 300m WR rating meaning it’s ready to hit the waves. Of course, that’s not the whole story, as they needed to make the watch their own. For starters, take a look at the handset. It’s not quite a sword, it’s not quite a Flieger style, it’s something in-between. Plenty of lume on those hands, and of course on the indices. For the white dial version, rather than making the dial fully lumed, they’ve outlined each numeral with the luminous paint, which makes for quite an interesting look.

Frankly, we like what Cameron Weiss has done here with this design, and that’s not even getting into the details they’ve incorporated in the optional steel bracelet for the Weiss Standard Issue Dive Watch. If you want to get one of these designed- and assembled-in-the-USA watches, just take your funds ($2,650 on a rubber strap or $2,950 on the bracelet) right on over to Weiss, and get your customization (well, dial color, strap, and engraving) rolling. weisswatchcompany.com
