Yema Urban Field Watch: In my mind, when I picture a Yema watch, I automatically think of the bezel clasp that locks things in place when you screw the crown down. It’s not something I necessarily enjoyed in the review loaners, but it’s definitely been a defining design element. So, I was quite pleasantly surprised to see that their brand-new Yema Urban Field dropped that clasp.

That, of course, is because there’s no timing bezel on the Yema Urban Field. Rather than focusing on their aerial inspirations, this is one meant for land. In terms of field watch design, this does have a lot more polishing happening, but that’s ok, as we’re not relying on these for their original (military) purpose.

The dial of the Yema Urban Field – aside from the variety of colors they’re available in – feel familiar and vintage, and look to be well-proportioned. Oh, and speaking of proportions – you can get this watch in either a 37.5mm case or a 40mm case. So, those with smaller wrists – or just have a preference for a smaller watch – this is your time, for sure.

Powering the Yema Urban Field is a Sellita movement that we’re not as accustomed seeing, the manually-wound SW210-1b. While I may not be as familiar with the movement, I’d definitely be comfortable putting on a watch powered by Sellita. Being manually-wound, it further reinforces the vintage/retro feel of the design.

Yema Urban Field Watch: Price

Regardless of the case size, all of the watches come with a leather strap. You’ve also got your choice of bracelets. Go for the a “smushed” beads of rice bracelet, and you’re looking at $1,249 for a price. The more interesting bracelet – to me – is the Bonklip. This was a style used by the British military until the early 80s, and apparently sizes (and wears) like a textile NATO strap.

The Yema Urban Field on that funky bracelet comes in at $1,099, and definitely should give a unique wearing experience. If you want to pick one up (two case sizes, five dial colors, two bracelet choices), you can do just that directly at yema.com
