Oyez, oyez: Buscum Ducis is holding a spring sale and will offer their $300 watches – some of my personal faves – for $220. That is a savings of over $5 million, give or take a few million.

The company is making room for a new model, the BD II, which will kick major butt. The creator, Sven van der Zande, is writing up his experiences as a watchmaker for us so we can learn what it takes to build a watch in a rough economy while facing down every single watchmaker in the world.

  1. It would be great if this kid’s website would just work properly. Today (5-1), the whole site is down and it isn’t speaking very well of Buscum’s business operation. Someone needs to tell this guy to worry more about making his online presence easy to access, use, and pay through and less time worrying about Facebook, Twitter, and blogging. I was going to buy today but now I cannot because the site is down. Gone. Poof.

  2. Don’t worry, I actually purchased a watch from this guy. Big mistake, three weeks later and all I have is promises that it is on the way. I will be contacting my credit card company to charge the purchase back, and never buy another product from him.

  3. Hello.

This is Sven, founder of Buscum Ducis. As John Biggs and many of you who purchased the watch during the spring-sale (thanks for that) know. I always strive to deliver top-notch service. This includes emailing or calling people if I believe that there package may come in later or not at all (We have had some theft problems on the transport part ‘investigation is ongoing’).
For some people it is hard to communicate and even if you send several emails and ask several questions, you get no reply. People are usually given the option to have an urgent transport or regular, without extra pay, I might add. Being a small company, you always hope that good-willing people will be thoughtful about you as a small company and just go for the regular transport without a fuzz, if not than that’s of course the companies problem, and you ship it with some urgency.
It is only when a customer turns to a blog FIRST and doesn’t reply to your emails where it goes wrong.

Everybody who knows me a bit personally (which I try to do with most my clients) knows that I try to help my customers best I can. IF there has been any miscommunication, I apologize. And if anything wen’t wrong with your shipment, I apologize too.

    Regards,

    Sven van der Zande

  4. I would like to update my earlier post. Sven was having the same problems any small business could have, ie shipping problems. Once we were able to get in contact with each other he was very eager to resolve any complaints I had.

I have received my watch and am very satisfied with the product. Its a nice watch. I would recommend this watch to a friend.

  5. I just received my BD1 from Sven today and I must say that I am beyond pleased with the watch, but also Sven’s top notch service. He communicated quickly and often and FedEx held my watch for me until I could get it this afternoon. T

This watch is of excellent quality and definitely rivals far more expensive products in it’s build quality and aesthetics. Nice job Sven, I will be interested to see what you do next, but anyone looking for a great timepiece can rest assured that Buscum is the real deal.
