We’ve said it before, and we’ll no doubt be saying it again soon – Citizen is really on a tear as of late, coming up with some very interesting designs. The latest news to cross our desk was about an expansion of their Series 8 line, this time adding in my favorite complication, GMT.

With this particular release, it does feel that Citizen is making a play for the luxury end of the market (and the entire Series 8 seems to be inching towards that). This is evident in the price they’ve got planned for the watch, but also in the textures that they’re putting in on the dial, as well as the multiple finishes on the integrated bracelet. It just makes for a very cohesive feel, and a design that was thought out as a whole, rather than just taking an existing design and figuring out how to shoehorn a GMT complication into the case.

For this outing, they’ve got three different color palettes planned for the Citizen Series 8 GMT. You’ve got a blue/black bezel on a black dial, a blue/red bezel on a blue dial, and then a brown/cream bezel set over a hammered metal dial. Those first two are set in steel cases, while the third – which is a limited edition of 1,300 pieces – comes in golden look, which itself has multiple gold tones.

On one hand, the Citizen Series 8 GMT is a very classic GMT look, while Citizen has managed to put some of their own touches to it, while also blending in the very popular integrated bracelet look. We’ve only seen photos so far, but what we’re seeing has us quite intrigued. When they’re introduced later this fall, the steel versions will be $1,695 while the golden-hued LE version comes in at $1,795. And yes, we’ll be working to get in a review loaner of one of these just as soon as they’re available. citizenwatch.com
