Mike Kobold is a madman – a real watch pro – and this is his latest, the amazing Old Explorer. It looks so retro yet the face makes me make a little pee pee.
Kobold revives a favorite, with the Sir Ernest Shackleton Old Explorer’s model. If you remember the original, it featured that beautiful flesh tone dial. Now you can enjoy the smokin’ Artic blue. Michael Kobold, known for his more industrial hard German look, does a great job with this subtle dress/casual throw back timepiece. A hand-wound, Swiss-made movement, caliber K.348 (modified Unitas 6497) powers the Sir Ernest and is a technological marvel.
Amazing work.

Looks like this Issey Miyake watch costs $205 and is pretty hot right now with the Japanese fashion watch set. I’d say pass, but do what you feel.

CABANE de ZUCCA Eye Patch [Wrist Dreams]

Unmitigated crap, thy name is Alpha. I don’t mean to be harsh, but I’m spitting mad right now staring at the hunk of garbage called the Alpha GMT Diver. Alpha is an eBay brand famous for their “replica” watches which apparently include the entire Rolex line, a few sassy Omega-alikes, and even an Anonimo-alike. They are almost all mechanical automatics, which is impressive, but they are little more than a ham-handed effort at selling branded fakes.
Cool pictures on WatchRap of a chrono movement that was stuck in a can for a few dozen years. Excellent restoration work by BK.

When Velociphile says something is better than the Breitling Navitimer, I’d tend to believe him. This hot little manual wind from Sinn has a great movement is is considerably cheaper than anything Breitling has to offer. Plus, it’s busy without looking cluttered.
The Sinn 903 is a better Navitimer for those in the know. Despite now being based only on the ubiquitous 7750, it beats the Breitling hands down as it stays true to the tool watch ethic at a sensible price. In comparison the Breitling Navitimer is an overpriced lifestyle product and, frankly, jumped the shark a while back.

Scott at WatchUSeek.com asks:
How often do you switch watches? I recently got my second dream watch and now find myself changing watches at least daily – and in some cases twice a day. Is this a disease or am I normal? Help!
Scott, it is a disease and is as pernicious as VD or a case of red eye. You should immediately go out and buy a Timex from the local drug store, put it on, and don’t take it off until the rubber strap shreds into a disgusting, sweat-stinking mass of plastic by-product. At that point, you’ll probably be cured. Unless you put on a Seiko.

Do you need to pimp? Do you need a watch? Then why not get the Pimp Jive Turkey, a $135.51 digital with infinity mirrors, bright green LEDs, and a sense of style so perverse that you may kill the kids on your block with your cool.
Make no mistake, the LED’s on this watch are very bright. Just to prove it to myself I went out into the blazing sunshine to test it and I had no problem to read the time even in direct sunlight.
At night time though, the display really pimps its stuff. The infinity effect is nothing less than awesome. In the bar I visited last night I had 3 different girls come over to ask me about the watch & the bartender even gave me a free beer when I let him try the watch for a while. Now that’s what I call Pimpin!
Now that’s an endorsement.
