When I first started getting into watches – and particularly when I started writing about them – it seemed that sizing was on a massive upswing. And sure, I got caught up in that, until I finally settled in on some practical sizing that blended wear comfort with dial legibility. One brand that has really been hitting that sweet spot with sizing in Baltic, and their new Baltic Hermétique Tourer looks to be another home run.

Baltic Hermétique Tourer: Styling

Looking at the styling, this feels both classic and recognizably Baltic, to me. The styling – particularly the raised (and luminous!) indices – is great, of course, but the big thing here is not so big. Yup, it’s the sizing. The me of a decade ago would have turned his nose up at a 37mm case, but the me of today? That feels eminently wearable, particularly with a dial as crisply legible as the Baltic Hermétique Tourer offers.

Baltic Hermétique Tourer: Thickness

Even better is the case thickness here. While the official spec is 10.8mm (which is slender), it’s just 8.3mm if you don’t count the sapphire crystal. So, this will slip quite nicely under a cuff, and your eye is really just going to catch that 8mm of steel, making this look even thinner on the wrist.

Watch Crown

Another very interesting thing that the Baltic Hermétique Tourer has done is to shave the crown down so that it snugs itself right into the side of the case. This means, no matter which wrist you wear the watch on, you’re not going to have that crown digging into you.

Price

On top of all that, the Miyota 9039 will be kept nice and dry, because this compact wonder also manages to pack in a 150m WR rating, so you’re in the clear to go swimming with the watch. Want to get one? They’re coming in at 550€ on the tropic strap or 615€ for one of the bracelet versions, with delivery starting up early next month. baltic-watches.com
