Welcome back to our weekly installment, Watching the Web, where we have a quick look at some interesting watches and articles that have popped up over the last week, as well as taking a second look at what some of our more popular articles this week were. Today, we’ve got a hands-on look at a watch I told you about back in May, and then a look as another (relatively) affordable German watch. After those, we’ll highlight (as usual) some of our more popular posts from the last week. Read on to see what we’ve got in store for you.

ARCHIMEDE_OUTDOOR_DIALS1-1024x682

First off, let’s talk about the Archimede Outdoor. As I mentioned back in May they released an updated version of the Outdoor with a hardened case (certainly a great idea for a rough-duty watch). As it turns out, they’ve also released a PVD variant which looks quite nice as well. Now, I liked the original version of the Outdoor when I spent some time with it, and the crew over at Worn & Wound came away impressed with the new versions. For me, I still like the watch, and the hardened variant on the bracelet seems like a steal, and ready for some adventure.

cs-nomos-zurich-weltzeit

Keeping things in a very Germanic vein, ATimelyPerspective has a look at what they’re classifying as an affordable watch, the Nomos Zurich Welzeit. Nomos is a brand that has long held my attention, for their very clean and interesting designs. With the new Welzeit, they added what I feel is perhaps the most useful complication, a GNT indication. This was done while still maintaining that clean and pure Nomos look – a definite plus in my book. Now, everyone’s definition of affordable is different, and at around $5,000, this particular Nomos may not fit the bill (especially compared to that Archimede above!). For a luxury piece, and all it’s other merits, though, it seems reasonably priced, especially for what it would compete against. You can check out the full rundown right here.

Swatch-Sistem51-27

Now, lets turn our attention back to our own pages. First up, we’ve got a watch that continues to gather a good bit of attention – the Swatch Sistem51.  If you’ve been living under a rock, perhaps you might not be aware of why this is such an interesting (and potentially important) mechanical watch.  If that’s you (or even if it isn’t), you can check out our full hands-on review right here.

AVI-8-Hawker-Harrier-II (22)

Next up, we’ve got a review trio, from back when we took a look at the AVI-8 Hawker Harrier watches.  These were an interesting mix of features (though there was definitely one watch I preferred above the others).  That said, all three proved popular when they cropped up again for giveaway prizes, so there’s definitely some interest around them.  You can check out the full review right here.

Last, but not least, we’re in a new month, so that means it’s time for a new giveaway.  If you’ve not entered yet, head on over here and get on in for your chance at the James McCabe Lurgan.  With that, we’ll wrap things up.  As always, if there’s something you think we should be covering, feel free to drop us a line.  If you bring something up that we end up writing about, we’ll be sure to tip our hats (electronically, if not literally) in your general direction.
