Romain Jerome Eyjafjallajökull Evo

Romain Jerome Eyjafjallajokull DNA 1.jpg

Romain Jerome does things… differently.  Their latest watch is a commemoration of a grand geologic event, that happened to ground air traffic in Northern Europe for 6 days.  The Eyjafjallajökull (Icelandic for “Island mountain glacier”) volcano erupted in April 2010, creating some spectacular images, but also producing an ash cloud that disrupted air travel in Europe.  The watch is part of the DNA series, meaning that it contains a part of the namesake, in this case volcanic stone.  This iteration, with an Evo designation, is the third in the line, with a black PVD stainless steel case.

Introducing the RJ-Romain Jerome Skylab 48

When it comes to RJ-Romain Jerome, they do certainly have a distinctive way of going about things.  They like to create watches with unique materials (say, using metal from the Titanic) and interesting dials (my favorite?  The Batman DNA, of course!)  Often, the focus is on the exterior of the watch, with the case and/or dial taking pride of place.  Well, this definitely changes around with the RJ-Romain Jerome Skylab 48.  Sure, the case is very familiar for the brand, but the star of this show is the movement.

Matt’s Picks For The WWR Top Watches of 2015

Our goal, for the time being at least, is to publish one article per day here at WWR.  Discounting the weekend posts, that means we cover on the order of 250 watches per year.  Since we don’t cover every new watch we see, I would estimate that we see (collectively) well over 500 new watches a year, and that number is probably closer to 1,000; after all, we read a number of the other watch blogs as well.  So this gives us a pretty good pool of watches from which to develop favorites.  And that is what this post is all about, our picks for the WWR Top Watches of 2015.  This post will cover my picks for the best watches that we have featured on this site, and Patrick and Ken will also chime in with lists of their own.

Watch Video Rewind for April 12, 2015

rewind_logo_1Welcome back to our regular feature, the Watch Video Rewind.  In this series, we bring to light watch related videos which we feel are interesting and worth sharing with our readers.  This week, we have interviews with the men behind three upscale brands, Romain Jerome, Panerai, and TAG Heuer.

Romaine Jerome Gets Colorful

Romain Jerome Steampunk 03

Romaine Jerome is one of those far out there watch brands that somehow keeps creating crazy watches that I like.  I can’t pinpoint exactly what I like about them, since some of the designs are pretty silly, but I like them none the less.  Just launched is the Steampunk Auto Colours variations, a take on the previous steampunk watch done up in, you guessed it, bright colors.

R-J goes back to the moooooon

Romain-Jerome, everyone’s favorite wacky watch brand, has released the Moon Orbiter GMT, an oddly staid and nice-looking GMT piece with a lot less whimsy and a lot more cool than their previous models. The Moon Orbiter is the second in their lunar series and they created it in conjunction with La Joux-Perret.
