Historical Horology: Antique Luxury

Posted on 24 March 2013 by Patrick Kansa

When it comes to luxury brands today, there are plenty of newcomers on the scene.  That said, it’s the makes with the long history that paint the most compelling story, and seem to draw watch collectors in.  So much, so, that John even has an upcoming book (more here) coming out in that arena.

It’s not just all Breguet, though.  You’ve got the likes of Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe,  and Blancpain that start to fill up those ranks of storied watch manufacturers.  Of course, you and I are not likely to have one of these gracing our wrists – but the high-end can certainly inspire designs and movements in the more reachable segments.

Either which way, this article over at Crown & Caliber is a quick (and informative) overview of some of the oldest luxury watch brands still in operation today.
